Alberta
Driving across Canada in November was cold. Many roadside campgrounds and motels are strictly seasonal and are closed over the winter. Since we had 5 dogs with us (and would likely be unwelcome at a motel anyway), we were prepared to camp out at rest stops in the middle of nowhere, or truck stops, or parking lots.
We stopped in Alberta to do some shopping and heard about an RV campground that was actually open. It was off the beaten path, but was well worth the effort to find it. Dogs, no problem! Good food, nice showers, and only a few campers. The next morning, we realized we really needed the rest and stayed for an extra two days.
